THINK TWICE before responding to "urgent" text messages.
There is another scam involving a text message being sent to cell phones warning credit union members that their debit or credit card has been blocked for security reasons. The message urges users to call a hotline to unblock their card, but instead they reach an automated response system asking for their card number, personal identification number (PIN) and other information. NEVER GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION IN RESPONSE TO AN UNSOLICITED REQUEST! G.A.P. FEDERAL CREDIT UNION HAS NOT OR WILL NOT TEXT YOU ABOUT YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD! IF YOU SHOULD RECEIVE ONE OF THESE BOGUS TEXT MESSAGES, PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER TO REACTIVATE YOUR CARD! THIS IS A SCAM, AS NO CREDIT UNION WOULD EVER ASK A MEMBER FOR THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION USING TEXT MESSAGING!!
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2012
FEDERAL REGULATION D AND ITS EFFECTS ON YOUR ACCOUNTS
Regulation D impacts the number of transfers G.A.P. FCU may allow on your deposit (savings) accounts. The regulation was implemented by the Board of Govenors of the Federal Reserve System, whose job is to ensure that financial institutions maintain adequate reserves for the funds they have on deposit. Regulation D affects you by limiting certain withdrawals and transfers that may be made from your Share Savings. This is of particular importance to those members who use their Savings account as Overdraft Protection. Effective August 1, any transfers or withdrawals attempted beyoond the monthly limit of six (6) will not be honored and you will incur a non-sufficient funds fee. For more information...
WHAT IS REG D? AND HOW DOES IT EFFECT ME?
Effective January 1, 2012, we will no longer be selling savings bonds in our branches. Please visit www.treasurydirect.gov to purchase savings bonds directly. For your convenience, we will continue to redeem bonds.
