G.A.P. FEDERAL

CREDIT UNION

G.A.P. FCU originally started out as Cambria County U.S. Employees Federal Credit Union in 1937. They operated out of a cash box on the first floor of the Johnstown Post Office building, and was renamed to Johnstown, PA Post Office Employees Federal Credit Union in 1941.

In July of 1996 is when Government and Postal Federal Credit Union (G.A.P. FCU) was officially voted to change the name to better fit the expanding field of memberships. Since that time, we have added three (3) more branches to keep servicing out members conveniently.

Our knowledgeable Member Service Representatives continue to make our members financial transactions as easy and convenient as possible. Our Financial Counselors can help members achieve their financial goals by guiding them to make wiser decisions about their finances in order to build a stronger foundation for their futures.

G.A.P. FCU strives to support the local communities and organizations. We embrace the opportunity to support where and when we can.

Why a

CREDIT UNION?

  • Credit unions are focused on people, not profits. Credit unions operate by a “people helping people” philosophy that is hard to find at many other financial institutions.
  • Credit unions exist to serve people–including people of modest means.
  • Financial education is available to all members. Credit unions help members become better-educated consumers of financial services.
  • As not-for-profit institutions, credit unions offer better rates on credit cards–up to three percentage points lower than the average bank card rate.
  • Credit unions are available in places where banks typically aren’t, such as community development neighborhoods.
  • As a member of a credit union, no matter how much money you have on deposit, you have an equal voice in how your credit union is run.
  • Superior service, convenience, and technology. Credit union members receive the service convenience of today’s technology through telephone and online banking.
  • Interested in becoming a credit union member? Just ask us. Call any of our offices for information about becoming a member
